Am I obligated to maintain ties with my wet-nurse mother and her children, to show them kindness and benevolence? And would I be sinful if I were to cut them off? And is it permissible for me to speak with my wet-nurse mother without my husband's permission?

Among the noble characteristics is kindness towards foster brothers and sisters. The husband should be a helper to his wife in showing kindness to her foster relatives, emulating the action of the Prophet, peace be upon him, as long as no corruption in religion or morals is feared. The wife must obey her husband if he forbids her from visiting them, knowing that proof of fosterage requires the suckling to have occurred within the first two years of life and consist of five satisfying breastfeeds.
