All magic is forbidden (haram). Imam Al-Shafi'i stated that all magic is forbidden, and its perpetrator should be punished. Al-Shinqiti mentioned that magic is vile and reprehensible in Islamic law, and some of it constitutes clear disbelief (kufr bawāḥ), while some leads to disbelief. The lowest degree of it is severe prohibition.
