What is the ruling on someone who seeks forgiveness from a person they have wronged, while the wronged person cannot forgive them from the heart and invokes curses upon the wrongdoer?
Allah has forbidden harming a Muslim and has permitted the wronged to seek justice from their oppressor through supplication (du'a) against them, commensurate with the wrong inflicted. However, Islamic law encourages forgiveness and promises a great reward for those who pardon, as Allah Almighty says: "So whoever pardons and makes reconciliation – his reward is due from Allah." It also urges responding to evil with good. It is recommended to forgive this person, especially since he apologized, for forgiveness is better for both you and him. It will increase your honor and dignity, and it is a path to attaining Allah's pardon and forgiveness.
