How can the time spent going to school be transformed into an act of worship and be utilized for scientific and religious benefit?

A good intention transforms habits into acts of worship for which a Muslim is rewarded. If one intends by eating to gain strength for obeying Allah, he is rewarded. If one intends by physical exercise to prepare physically for jihad, he is rewarded. And from Mu'adh, may Allah be pleased with him: "I seek reward for my sleep just as I seek reward for my standing in prayer"; because if rest is intended to aid in worship, then reward is obtained. Permissible acts are rewarded by intention if they become means to obligatory or recommended ends. So, the student should intend, when going to school, to acquire knowledge to benefit himself, his nation, and his religion, for that will motivate him to diligence and effort and combine for him both reward and success.
