How do I make my studies an act of worship to Allah?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

Studying is an act of worship if you adhere to the rulings of Sharia and purify your intention for Allah Almighty, meaning your goal is to uphold the religion and benefit people. There is no harm in having personal worldly benefits as long as they do not deviate from Sharia. One can make their entire life an act of worship through sincerity and rectifying intentions, as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "When a man spends on his family, seeking reward for it, it is charity for him," and Mu'adh said: "I seek reward for my sleep just as I seek reward for my standing." So, whoever intends by their study, eating, drinking, and sleeping to gain strength for obeying Allah, then it is an act of worship. It is reported in the Hadith: "And in the sexual act of one of you there is charity… Do you not see that if he were to place it in something forbidden, would there not be a sin upon him for it? Similarly, if he places it in something permissible, there is a reward for him."
