How can a person make their daily actions acts of worship?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

A righteous intention is what transforms ordinary actions into deeds for which one is rewarded. Examples include intending to gain strength for obedience to Allah through eating and drinking, or intending to protect oneself and one's wife from sin and to seek righteous offspring through marriage. It is stated in the Hadith: "When a man spends on his family, considering it as such, it is a charity for him" (narrated by Al-Bukhari). Similarly, Mu'adh said to Abu Musa: "I seek reward for my sleep just as I seek reward for my standing (in prayer)," meaning he sought reward for sleeping so that he would be more energetic upon waking. Permissible acts are rewarded through intention if they become means to obligatory or recommended objectives.
