Is intention an act of worship, and is intention required for intention?

Intention (niyyah) is a condition for the validity of every act of worship. It means that the doer intends his action for Allah the Almighty, sincerely dedicating it to Him. It is easy and should not lead to obsessive doubts. Intention itself can be an act of worship if a person is unable to perform an action but intends to do it if they were able; in such a case, they are rewarded for their intention.
