Does studying for position, money, benefiting people, and self-satisfaction constitute shirk if the intention is not purely for the sake of Allah?

The questioner suffers from waswasah (whispers/obsessive thoughts). The cure for it is to completely ignore it, pay no attention to it, and stop asking about it, all while humbly supplicating to God for healing. Ordinary worldly activities—such as academic study—are not subject to the forbidden riya' (showing off).
