What are the harms of music, other than distracting from the remembrance of Allah?

The forbidden musical instruments (ma'azif) harm one's religion and faith, and bring divine punishments; for they are the "wine of the souls" that lead to shirk (polytheism), indecencies, and injustice. They turn hearts away from the Qur'an and make them devoted to wickedness and disobedience. With their spread, Allah empowers the enemy over a people and afflicts them with drought and evil rulers.
