Is the expiation for an oath (kaffarat al-yameen) obligatory for someone who swore not to watch television but then watched it forgetfully, knowing that he remembered his oath on the following day?

The preponderant opinion is that whoever does the thing he swore not to do, out of forgetfulness, does not owe expiation, due to the Almighty's saying: "And there is no blame upon you for that in which you have erred, but [only for] what your hearts intended," and due to the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: "Indeed, Allah has pardoned for my Ummah their mistakes, their forgetfulness, and what they are coerced into."
