Is there a sin incurred by one who performed ablution (wudu') without rinsing the mouth (madmadah), sniffing water into the nose (istinshaq), or wiping the ears, and began by washing the hands before the face, due to ignorance of the correct order, because of water قطع and limiting ablution to obligatory prayers?

The agreed-upon obligatory acts of ablution (wudu') are those mentioned in the words of Allah Almighty: "O you who have believed, when you rise to [perform] prayer, wash your faces and your forearms to the elbows and wipe over your heads and wash your feet to the ankles. And if you are in a state of janabah, then purify yourselves." (Quran 5:6). Everything apart from these four is a matter of scholarly disagreement, such as rinsing the mouth (madmadah), sniffing water into the nose (istinshaq), and observing the proper sequence (tartib). The ablution mentioned [in the verse] is considered valid for prayer by some scholars, and it is permissible to adopt this opinion, especially when unaware of the correct sequence. It is advisable to gain a deep understanding of religious matters, particularly those related to individual obligations (fard al-ayn) like the rulings of purification and prayer, as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Seeking knowledge is an obligation upon every Muslim."
