If the buyer's primary purpose is the commodity and not the prize, and the commodity is sold at its market price, then there is no harm in their participation in a draw for a discount or varying prizes, even if the draw is by spinning a wheel or pulling a coupon. This is because the prize is considered an unintentional gift within the contract, and ignorance does not affect contracts of donation. However, if the merchant raises the price of the commodity for the sake of the prize, or if the buyer purchases the commodity solely to obtain the prize without needing the commodity, then this is impermissible.
