To what extent is the story true about the slave girl who said, "A musician by night, a preacher by day," and its attribution to Imam Al-Shafi'i, and does it contain corrupt ideas?

This story is among the most blatant lies, for its wording is weak and its content is crude, indicating its fabrication. How could one imagine Al-Shafi'i admitting to indecency? Its fabricator intended good but caused harm, for the stature of the Imams is far above such delirium. Stories like these are closer to disparaging the Imams. Muslims should occupy themselves with what is established from the stories in the Qur'an and Sunnah, and what has been transmitted by trustworthy narrators.
