What is the religious ruling regarding a father who severs ties with his daughter and her mother and does not go to their home, after he authorized the girl's maternal uncle to arrange her marriage because he was not convinced of the marriage, which caused sadness to the mother and much gossip among people?

A husband's failure to visit his wife and daughter constitutes a forbidden abandonment (hijran) unless there is a valid reason. If this estrangement extends beyond four months, the husband is treated as a mooli (one who swears not to have intercourse with his wife), and the wife has the right to complain about him to the judge so that the judge may compel him to return to her. It is preferable for the wife to try to communicate with him and discuss her right to conjugal relations as is customary. As for the daughter, she must go to her father, maintain ties with him, and show him dutifulness, for "the Lord's pleasure is in the father's pleasure." The marriage mentioned is valid. The father's prioritizing his mother with most of his time is permissible, but he is not allowed to abandon his wife. He can stay overnight with his mother and visit his wife occasionally to fulfill her rights.
