Is it permissible for the questioner to marry her colleague, given that she had filed for divorce from her husband two years ago and began the proceedings, and during that period she fell in love with her colleague, and the administrative divorce occurred recently, in addition to a previous divorce that the husband made conditional on an event, and this condition has occurred?
It is best to consult scholars or Islamic centers. A contingent divorce takes effect upon the occurrence of the condition it was made contingent upon, according to the majority of jurists. A triple divorce counts as three divorces according to them. The divorce pronounced by an angry person is valid unless his mind is completely deranged, and this is what we issue fatwas upon. Divorce does not take effect merely by the ruling of secular courts. Any relationship between a woman and a strange man must be severed. It is not permissible for a woman to marry while she is still married to her husband until her divorce is confirmed and her waiting period (iddah) has ended.
