A thrice-divorced woman can return to her first husband with three new divorces, and this is by scholarly consensus. If a man divorces his wife three times, and then she marries someone else, he consummates the marriage with her, then he separates from her, and her waiting period (iddah) expires, then it is permissible for the first husband to marry her again. She will then be with him with three new divorces.
