Is it permissible to feign breaking the fast due to fatigue in order to deceive Satan, after having made the intention to fast and feeling a desire for food?
For one who voluntarily fasts, it is better to complete it, though it is permissible for them to break their fast. The Shari'ah has shown us how to repel the cunning of Satan, but it has not guided us to deceive Satan. Therefore, what you did is not a valid trick, because Satan is close to the heart of the son of Adam and knows his desires. Ibn Taymiyyah said: "Satan engulfs his heart; if he remembers Allah, Satan withdraws, and if his heart is heedless of Allah's remembrance, Satan whispers. He knows whether he remembers Allah or is heedless of His remembrance? And he knows what his soul desires of sinful lusts, so he beautifies them for him." It has been authentically reported that "Satan flows through the son of Adam like blood." The proximity of angels and Satan to the heart of the son of Adam is among the matters confirmed by numerous narrations. Ibn Baz was asked about Satan's knowledge of the intention to do good deeds, and he affirmed it. This method might even be a trick from Satan, so occupy yourself with the lawful means of repelling him.
