Is it permissible for my mother to break her oath after she swore not to undergo laser surgery for her retina?

If the mother swore not to undergo laser surgery for her retinal detachment, and she now sees that performing it is better, then it is preferable for her to break her oath and offer expiation for it, based on the Prophet Muhammad's (peace be upon him) saying: "If one of you takes an oath and then sees something better than it, let him offer expiation for his oath and do that which is better." The expiation for an oath is feeding ten needy persons or clothing them or emancipating a slave. If one cannot find any of these, then fasting for three days, as Almighty Allah says: "Its expiation is the feeding of ten needy people from the average of that which you feed your [own] families or clothing them or the freeing of a slave. But whoever finds none – then a fast of three days."
