What is the ruling on marrying the daughter of a paternal aunt's husband, if the questioner was suckled by his paternal aunt's wife with "many" feedings at infrequent intervals, but his mother denied that these feedings were satiating, and he is confused about the number of feedings and their satiation?
If it is established that you were suckled by a woman, then you become a son to her and to her husband, the owner of the milk, and a brother to all her sons and daughters. For prohibition by suckling, five known and satiating sucklings are required, and the reference for estimating a suckling is custom. If you doubt whether the prohibitive number of sucklings occurred, then the prohibition is not established. Scholars have differed regarding women's testimony on suckling. Piety dictates avoiding marriage to the aforementioned girl if the Mahramiyyah (prohibition of marriage due to kinship) is not proven, as a way of exiting the disagreement.
