The saying "I wish I were a hair on the body of 'Umar ibn al-Khattab" has two observations: First, if it is meant to express love for the righteous and hope of being resurrected with them, then there is no harm in it, and the Salaf used it. Second, for a Muslim to adopt it as a permanent slogan, this is not advisable; because it may lead to idleness and keep the heart attached to the illusions of wishes, and it is considered a denigration of the honored Muslim self, especially if used for hypocrisy.
