Is it permissible to study college materials in the mosque?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

It is stated in the Sunnah that the functions of the mosque are for the remembrance of Allah, prayer, and recitation of the Qur’an. This includes seeking knowledge and engaging in beneficial study. It is permissible to teach discerning children therein as long as they do not defile it or disturb those praying. As for non-discerning children, it is not permissible to bring them in. Based on this, there is no impediment to reviewing university lessons in the mosque if what is being studied does not contradict the teachings of Islam, and if the learners adhere to the manners of the mosque.
