What is the ruling on using alcohol-based perfumes, and what types of perfumes did the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, use?

The ruling on using perfumes containing alcohol was previously explained in Fatwa no. 30260. Perfumes were abundant during the time of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him; some were evaporated by burning their sticks, and some were liquid like musk and oud oil.
