If a husband spends from his private money on sadaqa (charity), does the reward for that accrue to him alone, or does it include his wife and family?

If a man spends from his wealth in the way of Allah, the reward for the charity is for him, based on the Almighty's saying: "And that man will not have except what he endeavored." If someone shares with him in the charity, then each will have a reward according to their participation, whether through consultation, a portion of the charity, guiding to the poor person, or delivering the charity. And whoever does not participate will have no share of the reward. The proof for this is the Hadith of Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "When a woman spends from the food of her house without spoiling it, she will have her reward for what she spent, and her husband will have his reward for what he earned, and the treasurer will have the like of that, without any of their rewards diminishing anything from another." Thus, the one who participates in an act of obedience shares in the reward, and each will have their own specific recompense.
