There is no relation between a person who adopts a girl and sponsors her with sustenance and care, unless there is a mahramiyyah (unmarriageability) between them through suckling or lineage. Mere sponsorship and adoption do not establish mahramiyyah. If there is no mahramiyyah, then he should marry her to his son so that she becomes a to him; otherwise, she remains a stranger to him and to his son.
