The question

"Is it permissible to lend a friend an amount of 100,000 to buy a car in cash (at a price of 85,000), on the condition that he pays me back 110,000 later, and is that considered usury (riba)? "

The answer

"Lending money on the condition that it be returned with an increase is not permissible; it is clear riba (usury) by consensus, and it is one of the greatest sins that warrants a curse and obliterates blessing. As for the permissible transaction, it is that you buy the car with your money, and after it enters into your ownership and you take possession of it, you sell it to your friend in installments with a known increase.
