Must a Muslim woman obey her mother who orders her to abandon the legal hijab, watch movies, and forbids her from adhering to religion under the pretext that she will become "an old woman"?

It is obligatory to be kind to one's mother and to address her in the best possible manner due to the greatness of her right, and not to obey her in anything that is not good; for the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Indeed, obedience is in what is good" and "There is no obedience to a creature in disobedience to the Creator."

There is no objection to watching television and videos that do not contain evil, and listening to scientific seminars and beneficial lessons, while being cautious of watching any evil that may be displayed therein. However, watching cinema is not permissible.

It is not advisable to place a television in the home due to the abundance of falsehood it contains, and the mother's talk about pleasure is invalid and should not be heeded. Permissible pleasure is fine, but forbidden pleasure must be abandoned.
