The channels of speech are vast, and its methods are numerous, among them is calling out to and addressing the dead. What is forbidden among these is that which is by way of seeking aid (istighathah), or intercession (tawassul), or seeking benefit and repelling harm. What is permissible is that which is by way of lamentation and expressing sorrow or joy, and the like.
