Was Aisha — may Allah be pleased with her — bewitched?

It is authentic that Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) was afflicted with magic. Imam Ahmad reported in his Musnad, on the authority of Amrah, that Aisha complained and her illness became prolonged. A doctor came to Medina, and her nephews asked him about her illness. He said, "You are describing a woman who has been enchanted (bewitched). This woman is bewitched; her slave girl cast magic upon her." The slave girl confessed to this, so Aisha ordered her to be sold and her price to be used for something similar. The verifiers of the Musnad authenticated this narration, and Al-Albani also authenticated it.
