What is the ruling on taxes imposed on companies and individuals, and is it permissible to pay a company a sum of money to reduce the value of these taxes?

It is permissible to circumvent illicit taxes or to seek to reduce them by paying money, such as when the tax is exorbitant, oppressive, or exceeds the needs of the state. The party collecting the money is sinful for taking money unlawfully, as Allah Almighty says: "And do not consume your properties among yourselves through falsehood and present it to the rulers that you may consume a portion of the properties of the people unlawfully while you know."
