Is an estranged father entitled to stipulate the mother's travel as a condition for divorcing her? Is it true that a mother's deeds will not be raised (to Allah) if she has been in a dispute with the father for more than three days? Is it better for her to travel so she can be divorced and find peace?

A husband does not have the right to stipulate that his wife go to her parents' house, for she has the right to dwell [in his home] as long as she is under his marital care. Her right is not forfeited except by her disobedience (nushūz) or similar reasons. It is not permissible for either spouse to abandon the other except for a legitimate reason; otherwise, abandonment is forbidden by Islamic law, and what is permitted is only for three nights. It is advised that wise individuals intervene to prevent divorce due to the resulting disintegration of the family and the loss of the children.
