Is it permissible to watch purposeful movies inside the mosque?
Allah Almighty has declared that mosques are houses that Allah has permitted to be raised and wherein His name is mentioned. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, prohibited buying and selling, announcing lost property, and reciting poetry in them, for mosques were not built for such purposes. Similarly, showing films in them, even if they are purposeful, is not appropriate. This prohibition is further emphasized in matters of dispute, such as acting and photography, due to the transgression involved against the sanctity of the mosque, as the natural inclination of Muslims rejects the staging of plays in mosques.
