Is it permissible for a father, who is ill and seated in a wheelchair due to a fractured pelvis, to lead his standing daughter and his wife, who sits only during prostration, in prayer? And should the prayer be repeated? What is the correct posture for their prayer at home after his recovery, given his inability to prostrate due to the presence of screws and plates? Can he lead them in prayer while sitting in a chair during prostration, while they prostrate normally? And would they be deprived of congregational prayer if this is not permissible?

The prayer of a father as an imam while he is unable to stand and prostrate is a matter of scholarly disagreement. The Shafi'is permitted it due to the strength of their argument. If you pray behind him, you do not need to repeat the prayer. However, if you wish to be cautious, or if you follow a school of thought that prohibits this, then apologize to him and pray individually or together. If you do pray with him, do not repeat the prayer, as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, forbade repeating a prayer twice in one day: "Do not pray a prayer twice in one day."
