What should I do about my fiancée, whose family I discovered has a bad reputation, is unrestrained and not committed, and with whom I committed indecency? Should I stay with her or leave her out of fear of God?

The choice of a wife is based on four things: wealth, lineage, beauty, and religious commitment, with preference given to the religiously committed woman. A righteous wife is a treasure and an aid in matters of this world and the religion. She obeys her husband, pleases him, safeguards his wealth and honor, and raises children upon virtue. Marriage into a family with a bad reputation will undoubtedly harm the children. As for past sins, sincere repentance erases sins, and increasing acts of obedience and good deeds brings a servant closer to Allah.
