The answer

The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, forbade a woman in from wearing a niqab. She should not cover her face with anything other than a niqab, except in the presence of non- men, based on the of Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her, who used to draw her jilbab over her face when riders passed by. If she covers her face with a burqa or anything else when non-mahram men are not present, knowing that it is impermissible, then she must offer a : sacrificing a sheep, feeding six poor people, or fasting three days. However, covering her face with a khimar in the presence of non-mahram men is permissible. As for covering her face in the manner of someone wearing a litham when entering the restroom, this is forbidden. There is no penalty for one who does so forgetfully of her ihram.
