What is the benefit and importance of supplication after divine decree (qada') and destiny (qadar) have occurred, and should one continue to supplicate after the decree has taken place, and until when? And what are the supplications related to divine decree and destiny?

Supplication (Du'a) is a great act of worship, through which the supplicant never loses out on good. Either Allah answers his supplication, or He averts evil from him, or He stores it up for him on the Day of Resurrection. A Muslim should not stop supplicating in all circumstances, for Allah becomes angry with those who do not ask of Him. Supplication benefits against afflictions that have descended and those that have not yet descended. It is one of the most important means, by Allah's permission, to avert and lift afflictions. Ibn al-Qayyim likened it to medicine for the sick.

With regard to supplication and affliction, there are three scenarios: 1. The supplication is stronger, so it repels the affliction. 2. The supplication is weaker, so it mitigates the affliction. 3. They are of equal strength, so they contend with each other.

It has been authentically reported from the Prophet, may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him, that supplication does not repel Qadar (definition) (divine decree).
