If the process of artificial insemination is permissible by Sharia, then the issue of harm from medications must be considered: If the harm from medications is greater than their benefit, such as causing certain harm to the woman or inflicting immense hardship upon her, then it is not permissible. However, if their harm is less severe than the harm of infertility, then the lesser harm should be committed. If the two harms are equal, then taking the medication is forbidden. The assessment of harm is to be determined by the specialized physician.
