Must I withdraw my initial acceptance of a suitor who does not communicate with me or respond to my calls?

If the relationship is merely an engagement and the marriage contract has not been formalized, then the engaged couple is not permitted to speak to each other except out of necessity and within the bounds of what is beneficial, such as arranging marriage matters. If the fiancée is not reassured by the suitor's desire, she is permitted to annul the engagement, and she must return whatever he gave her unless it was a gift. The suitor's lack of contact does not necessarily mean he is turning away, and she has the right to demand the completion of the marriage or to annul the engagement and seek someone else, while consulting her family and performing Istikhara (prayer for guidance).
