Is it permissible to use the word "longs" (or "yearns") when speaking of Allah, the Most High, taking into consideration common phrases such as: "Perhaps Allah longs to hear your voice while you are intimately conversing with Him," and the Hadith: "Whoever loves to meet Allah, Allah loves to meet him"?

The phrase "Allah yearns" or "Allah longs" has not been authentically reported in the religious texts, except for what was narrated by Al-Daylami and Al-Ghazali in a Hadith (definition): "The righteous have longed for My meeting, and I long for them even more." However, Al-Hafiz Al-Iraqi said about it, "I have not found any basis for it." The scope of reporting about Allah is wider than the scope of His Names and Attributes, so it is not a condition that the wordings of reporting be restrictively ordained (tawqifiyyah). Nevertheless, it is more appropriate to use the wordings that have been authentically established in the Sharia (definition).
