Is it permissible to pray while experiencing Istihada (non-menstrual vaginal bleeding) that continues for three days after intercourse?

If blood is discharged due to intercourse, and it is neither menstruation nor post-natal bleeding, then it does not prevent prayer, because only menstrual and post-natal blood prevents prayer. Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said regarding a woman experiencing irregular bleeding (istihada): "No, that is but a vein, and not menstruation."

Scholars have pointed out that vaginal bleeding due to istihada or a surgical procedure does not take the ruling of menstrual blood; therefore, it does not prohibit what menstruation prohibits, and prayer and fasting remain obligatory. Nevertheless, the discharge of blood from the vagina invalidates ablution (wudu'), and the woman must perform wudu' for each prayer after its time has begun, and take precautions to prevent its discharge during prayer.
