Can Satan instigate one to do something beneficial and good, intending thereby evil, and how does that happen, and what is the difference between the whispering of the self and the whispering of Satan?

Satan may whisper to a person about a good deed intended for evil, and this has several forms:

- He may whisper about a good deed followed by a reprehensible act. For example, Satan may be keen on a good deed to lead the servant into something forbidden, such as advice exchanged between men and women that leads to a violation of Islamic regulations. The remedy for this is to be wary of temptations.

- He may command a good deed by which something more deserving is lost. For instance, Satan may distract a worshipper by encouraging reflection on a verse or contemplation of standing before his Lord, thereby diverting him from understanding what he is engaged in and preventing him from what is better.
