The answer

The sins that are forgiven by ablution are minor sins, such as looking at non- women, and not major sins. When a Muslim servant performs ablution, the sins of his face depart with the water or the last drop of water, and likewise the sins of his hands and the sins of his feet, until he emerges pure from sins. What is meant by their departure is a metaphor and an allegory for their forgiveness.
