The answer

Regarding the necessity of expiation for an al-Ghamus oath (a deliberately false oath), there are two opinions, and the prevalent view is that sincere repentance is obligatory for it. As for an al-Mun'aqidah oath (a deliberate, binding oath), expiation is required for it by consensus. An al-Laghw oath (aunintended, frivolous oath) does not require expiation.

For numerous al-Mun'aqidah oaths that you have broken, the majority of scholars hold that expiation is due for each oath. If you do not know their exact number, then act based on your best estimation (taharri). According to the Hanbalis, a single expiation suffices for all those oaths if you have not expiated for any of them, as they become intertwined due to their single cause.
