What is your advice for someone who does not observe the proper Islamic hijab? Thank you.

The hijab is a divine command that a believing woman must obey, as stated in the verse: (It is not for a believing man or a believing woman, when Allah and His Messenger have decided a matter, that they should [thereafter] have any choice about their affair). Allah commanded it by saying: (And tell the believing women to lower their gaze and guard their private parts and not expose their adornment except that which [necessarily] appears thereof and to wrap [a portion of] their headcovers over their chests), and He forbade ostentatious display by saying: (And do not display yourselves as [was] the display of the former [times of] ignorance).

The hijab is a protection for women and preserves them from harm by those with weak souls, as Allah Almighty said: (O Prophet, tell your wives and your daughters and the women of the believers to bring down over themselves [part] of their outer garments. That is more suitable that they will be known and not be abused). It is a symbol of chastity, purity, honor, and loftiness, and the practice of the Mothers of the Believers and the female Companions. It also purifies the hearts, as Allah Almighty said: (And when you ask [his wives] for something, ask them from behind a partition. That is purer for your hearts and their hearts).

If a Muslim woman reflects upon these noble meanings and implements Allah's command, she will achieve happiness in this world and the Hereafter.
