What is the ruling on men shaking hands with women in Islam, and does the Hadith of Umaymah bint Ruqayqah pertain exclusively to the Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him?

Shaking hands with a non-mahram woman is forbidden, and this ruling is not exclusive to the Prophet, peace be upon him, for Allah Almighty says: "There has certainly been for you in the Messenger of Allah an excellent pattern." Its prohibition is indicated by the Prophet’s, peace be upon him, prohibition of touching non-mahram women, when he said: "For one of you to be stabbed in the head with an iron needle is better for him than to touch a woman who is not lawful for him."
