Is it permissible for a student whose university is 62 kilometers away from his city to combine the Dhuhr and Asr prayers, even without shortening them, due to the difficulty of performing them on time because of studies, and are there multiple scholarly opinions on this issue?

Going to school and returning from it is not considered travel because the distance is less than 48 miles (80 km), and the return is on the same day. Whoever catches one unit (rak'ah) of Asr prayer before sunset has caught Asr. It is permissible for a resident to combine two prayers when there is a need or difficulty, such as fearing the expiration of the prayer's time. In this case, one can combine Dhuhr and Asr prayers as a jama' taqdim (combining and praying the second prayer at the time of the first), with each prayer completed with four units (rak'ahs).
