Does my saying to my wife after an argument, "By God, I will not keep you under my responsibility for one minute after this, by God's will," entail anything, even though I did not mean anything by it?

A husband's statement to his wife, "You are not under my responsibility (or authority)," is one of the euphemisms for divorce (kinayat al-talaq). Divorce does not occur with this statement unless there is an intention (niyyah) for divorce. It is advisable to be cautious of anger and to avoid everything that leads to separation and divorce, and to be keen on the stability of the family.
