Is it forbidden to place a wooden cross-shaped object, given as a souvenir by a non-Muslim, in a room?

It is not permissible to hang a cross for remembrance or for any other reason. Rather, it is not permissible to acquire it, due to the Prophet's (peace be upon him) prohibition of anything that contains crosses. This act is among the rituals of disbelief, and if a Muslim does it while knowing that, he disbelieves thereby. A Muslim must distance himself from these matters and not accept gifts that lure him into disbelief.
