What is the ruling when a girl accidentally hits a person, leading to his death? What is the diyah (blood money) that must be paid in Egyptian pounds? Can it be paid in installments? What is the kaffarah (expiation) that is due?

There are two obligations in the case of accidental killing: The first is expiation (kaffarah), which is the freeing of a believing slave. If one is not found, then it is fasting for two consecutive months. The second is the blood money (diyah) for the family of the slain, unless they pardon it. It is incumbent upon the 'Aqilah (male relatives on the father's side) of the killer, and the woman is not obliged to pay anything from it. The diyah is to be paid in installments over three years, by the consensus of the jurists. As for the value of the diyah, one must refer to the Sharia judges or the scholars in the country to estimate it.
