What is the Shariah ruling on working in the installation of satellite dishes that broadcast channels showing films and songs, bearing in mind that this is the sole source of livelihood for raising an infant and paying off accumulated debts?
It is forbidden to work in selling and installing satellite dishes or owning a network that broadcasts obscene films or forbidden songs, unless its use is restricted to beneficial matters. One must abandon this work and seek a permissible one, for whoever gives up something for the sake of Allah, Allah will compensate him with something better. It is not permissible to continue in this work except out of dire necessity that brings one close to destruction, or if one faces hardship and distress that can only be alleviated by committing what is forbidden.
