Does the obligation of my guardian to refer my case to the Sharia courts and rule for annulment apply to me, by analogy with Fatwa No. 3395, knowing that my situation is different, as no intercourse has occurred and I have cut off my relationship with the young man years ago?

A legitimate marriage has conditions and pillars without which it is invalid. These include the guardian (wali) and witnesses. If the marriage contract is concluded without a guardian, even with the availability of the other pillars of marriage (including witnesses), then it must be annulled. The woman is considered married before the annulment or divorce. However, a mere statement by the woman to the man, "I marry myself to you," does not constitute a valid marriage, and nothing results from it.
